Updated: 6 June 2026
This announcement is a practical document-preparation guide for Iranian nationals in Dubai and the Northern Emirates who need to renew an Iranian passport. It is based on the official passport-renewal page of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Dubai, the Mikhak consular-services portal, and the official consulate contact page.
When renewal may be needed:
According to the official Dubai consulate passport-renewal page, passport replacement can be requested when passport validity has ended, the passport pages are full, there has been a change in civil-registration details, the holder’s appearance has changed, or for other permitted reasons under the regulations.
Main process:
1. Complete the passport request through the Mikhak consular system.
2. Upload the required documents and keep the tracking code received by email.
3. Prepare the original documents and copies before visiting.
4. Visit the Iranian Consulate in Dubai in person; the official Dubai consulate page states that the passport holder’s presence is required.
5. Keep the Empost receipt for delivery of the issued passport.
Main documents mentioned by the official Dubai consulate:
- Current original passport.
- Typed and signed passport application form.
- Original Iranian birth certificate / Shenasnameh and copies of its pages. For applicants over 15, the Shenasnameh should have a photo.
- Original UAE residence permit and copy.
- Original and copy of Iranian national ID card for applicants over 15.
- Military service completion or exemption card for men born in 1343 or later.
- Three new 3x4 colour photos with white background, full-face, without glasses or hat, and with Islamic hijab for women.
- Related consular fee.
- Empost receipt for registered delivery of the issued passport.
Important notes:
- For male applicants subject to military-service rules who do not have a completion or exemption card, the official page refers to a special exit form instead of the normal residence/change-of-exit form.
- Applicants who also hold a non-Iranian passport must provide a copy of the photo page of the non-Iranian passport and a typed written request confirming they wish to remain Iranian nationals.
- For passport renewal of a child under 18, the father’s or legal guardian’s passport copy is required.
- For married women and children under 18, consent requirements may apply when requesting change of residence country in the passport.
- The consulate notes that documents should be checked before submission because incomplete forms or missing answers may cause the file to be returned.
Consulate contact information:
The official contact page lists the consulate address as Dubai, Jumeirah 1, Al Wasl Road, No. 256. Public visiting hours are listed as Sunday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The listed email is iranconsulate.dxb@mfa.gov.ir and the listed phone number is +971 4 3444717.
Lexor note:
Lexor Tourism can help customers organize the checklist, prepare copies, review the file before submission, and guide the Mikhak request process. Final acceptance, timing, fees and passport issuance remain fully subject to the Iranian Consulate and the relevant official systems.
